Text 1. Hiking.

HIKING

My name is Victor. I think the best way to spend a holiday is to learn more about your country. My hobby is hiking. I have always thought that I am a lazy boy. Last summer my friend asked me to go hiking with him. I don’t know why, but I decided to join him. We planned carefully where to go and what to take with us. We had to take a lot of things with us. We carried a small tent and a sleeping bag on our backs. We took a cassette- player and food, too.

First we walk as fast as we wanted to. But later we walked slowly and we loved it.

There were three of us and we spent the first mght in the forest near the river. We made a fire and sat till midnight.

We ate a lot of food and sang songs. We listened to the birds’ songs. Everything was so peaceful and beautiful. Next morn­ing we collected our things and cleaned the place around the fire. We did everything together and I was not lazy and did everything with pleasure. We walked again for a day and saw a lot of beautiful places and met really nice people on our way. Only one man did not want to give us a lift to the nearest vil­lage. Next summer we are going hiking again. Some other boys and girts from our school want to go with us. If they follow our rules, we’ll certainly take them.
